ABOUT

Véronique La Perrière M. is a multidisciplinary artist living and working between Montreal and Val-David, Québec. Rooted in a drawing practice, her work explores states of consciousness and processes of transformation. With an approach that is both poetic and conceptual, she examines our relationship to time, history and mythology by tracing visual narratives that evoke metamorphosis and the time of dreams. Drawing manifests itself in different forms, finding expression in the media of printmaking, sculpture, video or installation. 

Her artwork has been presented both in Canada and internationally, including: the United States, Australia, Luxembourg, France and Finland. Véronique La Perrière M. is the recipient of artist residencies granted by the Canada Council for the Arts (Paris, 2014), the OMI International Arts Center (New York, 2013) and the Brucebo Foundation (Sweden, 2012). She holds an MFA from Université du Québec à Montréal and an interdisciplinary PhD from Concordia University. In 2020, her work was the subject of a monograph, Mirror, Metamorphosis and Time in Reverse, published by Éditions SAGAMIE. In collaboration with The Society of Affective Archives, a collective that she co-founded in 2010, she has realized major public artworks for the Mont-Royal Park and the University of Montreal Health Centre (CHUM). Her work is included in several collections across Europe and North America.
